2. Think you should brace yourselves... like seriously take a seat. I am endorsing a 2012 Obama/Clinton ticket. Yes. You read that correctly. I sure do love Joe Biden, but adding Hillary will seal the deal AND potentially set up a 2016 Clinton Presidency. My opinion of her did NOT change until the Convention, and didn't REALLY change until Obama took Office and she became Secretary of State. But you may now consider me impressed. And I'd just love to see her deck Sarah Palin. Just once...
3. DON'T EVEN GET ME STARTED ON SARAH F'N PALIN.
4. Although I was MIA this go around of American Idol as a Blogger, I most certainly was NOT as a voter!! I'd like to think I'm personally responsible for the Kris Allen victory. MY GOD I LOVE HIM!!!

HE HAS PUBLICLY DISAGREED WITH AND DISTANCED HIMSELF FROM THE REMARKS THIS MAN HAS MADE, BUT MANY STILL HAVE QUESTIONS. AND THE MAIN QUESTION IS WHY IN THE WORLD IS HE REFUSING TO DISAVOW HIM FROM HIS LIFE. THIS MAN WHO INTRODUCED HIM TO HIS FAITH, OFFICIATED HIS WEDDING AND BAPTISED HIS TWO DAUGHTERS. THIS MAN HE CONSIDERS TO BE A MEMBER OF HIS FAMILY. SO, I WANT TO TAKE THE OPPORTUNITY TO SPEAK ABOUT THIS MYSELF. I DO HOPE YOU TAKE THE TIME TO READ THIS POST, BECAUSE AS AN AMERICAN THIS IS SO VERY, VERY IMPORTANT.

THIS SPEECH IS ALREADY BEING CALLED HISTORIC AND THE MOST IMPORTANT SPEECH ON RACE IN AMERICA SINCE DR. KING'S "I HAVE A DREAM" SPEECH. AND IT SHOULD BE NOTED THAT IF BARACK OBAMA IS NAMED THE NOMINEE OF THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY THAT THE VERY NIGHT HE WILL GIVE HIS ACCEPTANCE SPEECH TO BE THE PARTY'S NOMINEE IS ON THE ACTUAL ANNIVERSARY OF DR. KING'S "I HAVE A DREAM" SPEECH.

IN MY OPINION THE SPEECH BARACK OBAMA GAVE YESTERDAY GOES FAR AND BEYOND CONDEMNING THE INCENDIARY STATEMENTS MADE BY HIS FORMER PASTOR, JEREMIAH WRIGHT, TO SPEAKING THE TRUTH ABOUT THE STATE OF RACE IN AMERICA TODAY. THIS SPEECH IS A FIRST, IT IS HISTORIC, AND IT SHOWS ME WHY BARACK OBAMA'S LEADERSHIP, VISION, AND ABILITY TO UNDERSTAND THE DELICATE SOCIAL ISSUES THAT FACE AMERICA FROM MULTIPLE PERSPECTIVES MAKES HIM UNIQUELY SUITED TO BE OUR PRESIDENT AT THIS TIME... IN THIS MOMENT. RIGHT NOW.



IT WAS NOT UNTIL I ATTENDED GRADUATE SCHOOL IN SOCIAL WORK AT THE UNIVERSITY OF TENNESSEE THAT I FIRST EXPERIENCED AN OPEN DIALOGUE ABOUT RACE AND ITS PRESENCE AND EXISTENCE IN OUR EVERYDAY LIVES STILL TODAY. ONE THAT HAS BEEN SPOKEN ONLY IN THE PRIVACY OF ONE'S OWN HOME, OFFICES, OR JUST IN ONE'S OWN MIND. IT HAS ALWAYS BEEN THERE AND I WOULD LOVE TO SAY THAT IT WILL NOT ALWAYS BE THERE BUT REALISTICALLY THAT IS A LIE. I CAN HOPE THAT IS NOT THE CASE, JUST AS BARACK DOES, BUT THAT HOPE MEANS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING IF WE ARE NOT EVEN ABLE TO HAVE AN OPEN AND HONEST DISCUSSION ABOUT RACE TO BEGIN WITH.

AND HONESTLY SPEAKING ABOUT PREJUDICES IN OUR COUNTRY AGAINST ANYTHING NOT POLITICALLY CORRECT IN OUR LIVES, I WOULD LIKE TO SHARE A PERSONAL STORY.

JUST THE OTHER DAY A VERY CLOSE MEMBER OF MY FAMILY TOLD ME HE WAS FIGHTING WITH HIS GIRLFRIEND BECAUSE SHE WANTED TO COME OVER TO HIS HOUSE AND WAS WITH HER GAY MALE FRIEND AT THE TIME. HE SAID THAT HE TOLD HER NOT TO COME OVER SIMPLY BECAUSE HE DID NOT WANT HER GAY MALE FRIEND IN HIS HOME. PERIOD. AND SHE GOT UPSET WITH HIM, JUST AS I WOULD HAVE. AND WHEN HE TOLD ME THIS STORY I WAS TAKEN ABACK, BECAUSE EVEN THOUGH HE IS A CLOSE MEMBER OF MY FAMILY WITH WHOM I SPEAK TO DAILY HE HAD NEVER AT ANY TIME EXPRESSED SUCH STRONG FEELINGS ABOUT THIS TO ME. IN TRUTH, I KNEW HE FELT PREJUDICE AGAINST THE GAY MALE POPULATION BUT I NEVER HAD ANY IDEA HE FELT SO HARSHLY ABOUT IT AND IT UPSET ME.

DOES THAT MEAN I DISOWN HIM AS A MEMBER OF MY FAMILY?? DOES IT MEAN I LOVE HIM ANY LESS?? DOES THAT EVEN MEAN THAT I DISTANCE MYSELF FROM HIM AND DISAVOW HIM FROM MY LIFE??

ABSOLUTELY NOT.

EVEN IF HE WOULD HAVE MADE THESE REMARKS PUBLICLY, IN FRONT OF AN AUDIENCE AND ON YOUTUBE FOR THE WORLD TO SEE AND HEAR, I WOULD NOT LOVE HIM LESS OR KICK HIM OUT OF LIFE FOR BELIEVING WHAT HE CHOOSES TO BELIEVE EVEN THOUGH I COMPLETELY DISAGREE WITH HIM.

HE IS A MEMBER OF MY FAMILY AND I LOVE HIM REGARDLESS. HE IS ENTITLED TO HIS OPINION AS I AM ENTITLED TO MY OWN. OF COURSE I DISAGREE WITH HIM AND COMPLETELY DISTANCE MYSELF FROM HIS FEELINGS ON THIS!! BUT I REFUSE TO DISTANCE MYSELF FROM THIS PERSON NOT JUST BECAUSE HE IS A MEMBER OF MY FAMILY, BUT BECAUSE HE IS SO MUCH MORE THAN THIS OPINION HE HAS. HE IS SO MUCH MORE THAN THE DIFFERENCES WE HAVE ABOUT THIS ISSUE OR ANY OTHER ONE FOR THAT MATTER. AND WHILE I WISH HE DIDN'T HAVE SUCH PREJUDICES AND HOPE HE WILL RECONCILE THEM SOMEDAY, HE IS SOMEONE THAT I LOVE WITH ALL OF MY HEART.

I SUSPECT WE ALL HAVE PEOPLE IN OUR LIVES WHO HAVE OPINIONS WITH WHICH WE STRONGLY DISAGREE. BUT I ALSO SUSPECT THAT WE STILL LOVE THEM ALTHOUGH WE HAVE SIGNIFICANT DIFFERENCES WITH SOME OF THE OPINIONS THEY HAVE.

THAT IS THE FABRIC OF AMERICA. THERE WAS A TIME WHEN MEN THOUGHT WOMEN WERE NOT INTELLIGENT ENOUGH TO VOTE, A TIME WHEN WHITE AMERICANS THOUGHT IT WAS OKAY TO DISPLACE NATIVE AMERICANS FROM THEIR LAND, AND A TIME WHEN BLACK AMERICANS FACED EXTREME INJUSTICES IN THEIR EVERYDAY LIVES ALL OF THE TIME. AND I HAVE NO IDEA HOW THIS FEELS. I CANNOT PRETEND TO KNOW WHAT ANY OF THIS FEELS LIKE. I AM NOT SO ARROGANT TO BELIEVE THAT IF I WAS A BLACK AMERICAN WHO LIVED THROUGH THE WAR ON CIVIL RIGHTS THAT I WOULD NOT STILL FEEL RAGE ABOUT SUCH INJUSTICES STILL TODAY.

THE REMARKS MADE BY REVEREND WRIGHT PALED IN COMPARISON TO THE REMARKS MADE BY REVEREND JERRY FALWELL FOLLOWING THE ATTACK ON AMERICA ON SEPTEMBER 11, 2001. HE SAID THAT AMERICA WAS AT FAULT FOR THE TERRORIST ATTACKS OF THAT DAY BECAUSE OF HOMOSEXUALITY AND AIDS IN THIS COUNTRY. THAT IT WAS GOD'S WAY OF PAYING US BACK FOR ALLOWING HOMOSEXUALS TO LIVE IN AND AIDS TO OCCUR IN OUR COMMUNITIES. IT WAS A GROSS MIS-STATEMENT OF THE FACTS, AND COMPLETELY OFFENSIVE AND WRONG ON ALL LEVELS, TO SAY THE LEAST. AND REVEREND FALWELL IS CURRENTLY BEING EMBRACED BY THE McCAIN CAMPAIGN DUE TO HIS TIES TO HARD RIGHT CONSERVATISM.

ONE CANNOT THROW STONES AT GLASS HOUSES. IN AMERICA TODAY WE STILL FACE THE SAME DOMESTIC ISSUES THAT OUR GRANDPARENTS AND GREAT-GRANDPARENTS FACED. WE JUST DON'T TALK ABOUT IT. I FIRMLY BELIEVE THAT IT'S TIME FOR THE CANDIDATES TO SPEAK OPENLY AND HONESTLY ABOUT THESE ISSUES THEMSELVES AND NOT BE JUDGED BY THE WORDS THAT THEIR PASTORS MAY SPEAK ON SUNDAY, OR ON TELEVISION AS JERRY FALWELL DID DIRECTLY JUST A FEW YEARS AGO. IT'S NOT JUST TIME... IT'S OVERDUE. AND I AM SO THANKFUL THAT MY CHOICE FOR PRESIDENT UNDERSTANDS THAT.

SEE, THE REASON I FIND THIS FUNNY IS BECAUSE HILLARY HAD ZERO PROBLEM COMMITTING TO DO A DEBATE ON FOX NEWS, WHICH CALLED SENATOR OBAMA A MUSLIM WHO ATTENDED A RADICAL MUSLIM SCHOOL AS A CHILD WHICH TRAINS TERRORISTS. SHE THEN BALKED AT THE IDEA THAT BARACK OBAMA WAS REFUSING TO DO A DEBATE ON THIS NETWORK. THIS NETWORK, BY THE WAY, WHICH PRETTY MUCH STARTED THE RUMORS ABOUT OBAMA, AND WHEN OTHER NEWS NETWORKS PROVED THEIR REPORTS WERE FALSE OPTED NOT TO APOLOGIZE FOR THEIR ERROR, BUT INSTEAD SUGGESTED THAT THEIR REPORTS WERE SIMPLY THE ANCHORS "OPINIONS".

CALL ME CRAZY BUT ISN'T THE PRINCIPLE OF THESE TWO NETWORKS ERRORS ALMOST THE SAME THING?? ACTUALLY, I WOULD CALL THE FOX NEWS REPORT SIGNIFICANTLY WORSE, SINCE SEVERAL PEOPLE STILL BELIEVE THIS MADE UP STORY TO BE ACCURATE. BUT HEY. THAT'S JUST ME.

ON A TOTALLY DIFFERENT NOTE, THANK THE DEAR LORD JOHNNY FAIRPLAY IS LONG GONE FROM SURVIVOR. I DON'T CARE IF HE WANTED TO GO HOME, HE IS A TOTAL LOSER AND I AM SO GLAD HE IS GONE. Okay, so I felt the need to blog about several incidents that occurred tonight within a very short period of time. VERY. RANDOM. THINGS.

First of all, I have completely fallen off the diet wagon. I really think I will get back on it, but there's only so much of "tomorrow is another day" before it just gets ridiculous. I mean today was a new day, and yesterday was too, etc. etc... So that's out there now. I confess.

So I definitely decided to cheat tonight although it was the only time I ate today, and I ordered a cheeseburger from Outback Steakhouse. Thank GOD for curbside takeaway.

Well on the way to satisfy my cheating self, I hit something with my car and it sounded really loud. In the event you went to high school with me, you might remember the time I ALMOST hit a squirrel on the way to school and was so hysterical by the time I arrived that the Assistant Principal Mr. Dean sent me home with an excused absence. Mind you, I DID NOT actually hit the squirrel.

I don't handle hitting things well. I am constantly thinking that I have just killed someone's beloved animal (that shouldn't be running around loose outside anyways) and that some child is going to be devastated because of me. And I have NEVER actually hit an animal, but it's always in the back of my mind that it could happen.

So I was absolutely for sure that I had just run over someone's pet, and I parked in the closest driveway in sight and ran around trying to find it. It was dark. It was raining. It was super windy. I was crying. Really crying. I couldn't find anything. I heard no whimpering, no rustling, no nothing. SHEER SILENCE. Except for my muffled crying, of course. I turned around baffled thinking I would come back and check again for any signs of life from the animal I could not find that I probably just maimed. As I reached my car I happened to pass by the front of my vehicle and what did I find that I had indeed hit with such fury???

A BRANCH

Yep. That's right. A Branch full of leaves. And it wasn't even a big branch.

I figured this was karma for the whole cheating thing, so I decided during my food pick-up wait time to drop by the grocery store and buy some healthy alternatives to start anew tomorrow. No sooner did I have my favorite water in the whole world, and my weight watchers yogurt in my basket heading towards the self checkout lane did I stop for one very brief moment to look at magazines on a standing rack near the front of the store. At this exact moment the automatic doors opened and the wind knocked over not just the magazine rack I was standing at, but every single standing rack within 10 feet of me. And of course I was the only one standing there, so it looked like I had gone into a rage and ripped the store apart. While the two cashiers standing nearby knew that it obviously wasn't my fault every other customer in the Grocery Store who came to look at the ruckus taking place surely thought I was responsible, since I literally had packs of sweet tarts clinging to my sweater. It takes a lot, and I mean A LOT for me to get seriously embarrassed, but it's more than fair to say this experience definitely passed that test.

I came home and watched American Idol and it occurred to me with all this political stuff going on I haven't given any significant AI commentary lately. So, I definitely do not remember any of the contestants since my last Idol post, but I do remember last night and tonight. Last night the girl whose name I believe was Asia made me bawl my eyes out. She was the one who had just lost her Dad. And then the last guy who was from Morristown with his big heavy Tennessee accent?? I really hoped he would do well after the whole homeless and living in a car thing, and especially because he is from a town 40 minutes away from here, but WTF was up with that singing in a British accent???? I am still perplexed at this very moment. I am thinking that he may have had a consult with Britney before this performance to ensure he had his accent down pat.

And then tonight I just LOVED that guy whose name I can't pronounce who came back after not making it last year. I also liked the last guy too who came back after last year... the skinny kid who sang "Rollin' on the River"... although I have some really serious concerns that he may become this years' Sanjaya. And GOD knows there could be nothing worse than that.

On the Britney front, I really cannot believe she got released from the hospital today. She REALLY needed those 14 extra days in that hospital and I don't know who in the world allowed her release, but if it was her Psychiatrist than she is going to have some Professional issues on her hands if something happens. I have worked as a Social Worker with a SIGNIFICANTLY large (easily 200-ish?) amount of people with bipolar disorder and the worst thing about it is that it is totally treatable. Why this is a problem is because while treatable and manageable for the rest of their lives, the biggest issue with people who have bipolar disorder is that the second they stabilize on their meds (which normally takes a minimum of 2 weeks) and are feeling normal again they tend to go off their medicine thinking it's no longer necessary since they feel fine. There is absolutely NO WAY that Britney was stabilized AT ALL during her brief hospital stay and now she is on the loose again with the Paparazzi ALL OVER HER ALL OF THE TIME. I am genuinely concerned that she might die. I certainly hope this is not the case, but she is in really serious trouble. She desperately needs to be in treatment and that treatment needs to be inpatient and long-term. I wish the best for her and her family because they need it.

On a much lighter note, I saw on the news mid-day today that Howard Dean, the Democratic National Committee Chairman said that if the race for the Democratic Nomination goes all the way to the Convention without a winner that he will sit down in a room with both Candidates and basically make one of them concede defeat, without actually being defeated. Hmmm... Wonder who Howard will choose to give in? The Clintons?? Nahhh... My bet is on Obama. And if that happens you can guarantee a Republican win in November. Talk about making people feel like their votes don't count!! Actually you can probably guarantee a Republican win in November if Hillary genuinely wins the Nomination to begin with.

Mere moments after seeing this news report about Howard Dean’s plans I received an e-mail from the DNC urging me to donate to them so that the Democrats can beat John McCain in November. Yes, they actually went ahead and named him as the nominee. I, of course, shot back a fiery e-mail response to the DNC saying what I would and would not do and under what circumstances I would do them under. I'm so sure Mr. Dean got my e-mail. I'm even surer that he cares. In the meantime, I will just continue to give my $10 a month to Barack Obama's campaign. At least they repeatedly thank me for my donation and I know that it's because of millions of small donors like me that he is able to raise so much money for his campaign. I did this last night and felt overwhelmed with pride when the news broke today that he had raised $4 million dollars just since the polls closed yesterday. And just as I checked this to provide a link, that total is now up to $6.5 Million Dollars!! W.O.W.

In other news, Hillary announced today that she had to loan $5 million dollars of her own money and get her Staff to work for free for at least a month in order to compete with Obama's grassroots fundraising capabilities. Guess that's what happens when you get so much of your original donations from Political Action Committees and Lobbyists, who expect something from you in return, instead of getting donations from everyday people.

Either that or she has heavily invested in buying out all of the Shirts and Blazers in every possible shade of yellow in this country...







Is it just me or was that not a very wise decision???

I just don't think she is a "Summer". I would love to get Tim Gunn's off the record commentary on her wardrobe. Seriously.

Anyway, so I have a job interview tomorrow at a Funeral Home to be a Counselor which I have been informed by a friend who works for the Parent Organization of this business, is actually an outside sales position?? That sounds a bit dicey to me, but wish me luck anyways!!

SAD TUESDAY...

Before I get to my synopsis of Super Tuesday, I would like to acknowledge something WAY more important. I entitled this post "Sad Tuesday" because of the tragedies that took place in Mid-Western Tennessee and surrounding States yesterday. I have a very large amount of friends in this area, and have only been in contact with a few of them so far. I have called but only gotten a few responses back. If you are in any of these areas and have not gotten in touch with me please please please do so. My heart and thoughts go out to any and all of those affected.

I'm going to keep this Super-Tuesday thing as brief as I can because I just don't feel great about talking about all this when more important things are going on.

I am quite proud of Senator Obama's performance yesterday. I was really nervous and I did all I could do, and am probably not done yet. I can still phonebank in the upcoming States, and probably get a much better reception in those areas than I did phonebanking in the Washington County area.

KEY POINTS:

Massachusetts: NOBODY expected Obama to win this State regardless of any endorsement anywhere. He did lose it by a significantly LESS margin than he would have a week ago though, when he was far, far behind.

New York: Uhmmm... yeah, so seeing that Hillary is the Junior Senator for this State I would have been floored if he somehow won that State. I will say that he only lost by 17% in the State where she is the Senator.

Arkansas: Hillary spent a LONG time here as the First Lady of the State. And she won by 42% here. Again, she won New York, where she has actually been elected twice by 17%. Maybe she was a better First Lady than she has been as a Senator?? I'm just sayin'...

Illinois: Likewise, I would have been completely shocked if Hillary carried this State where Obama is the Junior Senator. She was actually born and raised here in Illinois as well. Where I see the difference in the two sitting Senators States is the fact that Obama won his State by 31% as opposed to her 17% in New York.

California: Citing all legitimate polls, Clinton led this State by a 2-1 margin at least a week ago. Regardless of any "surge" Obama made in this past week nobody following these races would have suggested that he would have been able to beat her there, especially considering the over 1 million early voting ballots that were cast a month or so ago, when Clinton was considered the front runner of the entire Democratic Party and Obama was not necessarily considered a formidable Candidate. Polls showed that the majority of last minute voters opted for Obama, and the fact that he lost this State by a mere 10% speaks volumes in this regard. In addition, while the delegate count has Obama down by a little under 100 right now, California has only officially given out 66 delegates, all to Clinton, of the total amount of 441 delegates, yet to be figured out.

Also as far as the delegate count goes, I really study this stuff and frankly it baffles me. It appears that few of the States from yesterday's votes have officially pledged the full amount of their delegates from yesterday and I don't get that. I'm guessing that by late tonight or tomorrow the full delegate counts will be in, but I have absolutely no idea what any of this means...

Also, what the hell is a superdelegate??? I have looked into this of course, and think it might be that the 400+ elected officials of Congress and the House of Representatives get to pledge their delegates to whomever they want?? If this is indeed the case, than I would suggest these elected officials actually vote the way the constituents who elected them in the first place voted.

Also I find it hard to swallow that Obama is losing the Latino/Hispanic vote overwhelmingly because of BILL CLINTON and what he did during HIS Presidency... not Hillary herself. That kind of makes me mad.

And for anyone who thought Obama couldn't win the "White" States, I give you not ONLY Iowa, but also Alaska, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Idaho, Kansas, Missouri, North Dakota, and Utah.

In case you were wondering, victory was also claimed in Alabama and Georgia. And Obama is ahead, even if just by a smidge, in New Mexico as we speak.

So, I guess I would say that winning 13 hopefully going on 14 States out of the 22 total from yesterday isn't bad in a day's work. Bring it on February 9th!! And then February 12th back atcha!!

OBAMA CAN WIN ANYWHERE. I KNOW HE CAN...



Also, I must discuss Tennessee. I am actually quite surprised that my State gave Obama 40% of the vote. I would also like to note that in Hamilton County (Chattanooga) Obama beat Clinton by 8%, in Davidson County (Nashville) Obama beat Clinton by 21%, and in Shelby County (Memphis) Obama beat Clinton by 42%. In Knox County (Knoxville... duh) Clinton beat Obama by LESS than 2,000 votes, and in my sadly skewed Washington County he lost by about 2,500 votes.

All IN ALL, 14 OUT OF 22 AIN'T BAD!!!!

Obama said this morning that he is well aware that Hillary is the front-runner and he is the underdog. That's been obvious this entire election cycle. Hillary gave an interview at the beginning of January saying this thing would be decided by Feb. 5th. Well, it's Feb. 6th and we are still standing tall. The more voters get to know Obama the more he takes away from the Clinton name, which is a tough name to beat.

I THINK HE CAN DO IT. I REALLY HONESTLY DO... AND I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE :-)

Well Happy Post-Super Bowl Monday!!! I ditched the date and stayed home because I was sick (cough cough... yeah, really sick!). Thank GOD I learned how to lie in College... and NO not to you my dear friends, to my fabulous Professors :-)

So about Underdogs... THE GIANTS PULLED IT OFF!!! I AM LOVING THE MANNING BROTHERS BACK TO BACK SUPER BOWL MVP HONORS!!!

I just KNEW Eli could do it!! And he did it with such class... Hmmm. Class. That doesn't seem to be something Bill Belichick knows a lot about.

And pretty boy Brady has now been beaten by the Manning brothers two years in a row. I bet he just hates them and goodness do I just hate that for him.

Also speaking of Underdogs, I know I have the video posted in my last entry and all, but again I am BEGGING YOU to click here and go to the Official Site for this video and just watch it. It's under 5 minutes and was written and directed completely independently from the Obama Campaign. YOU MUST DO THIS!! I DON'T NORMALLY BEG, BUT PLEASE TRUST ME!!

I would also like to point out that I have been taking time off work to Campaign locally for my main man, which isn't always fun. All this going door to door, campus to campus canvassing and making phone calls for hours upon hours and organizing events and such is KILLING me. I am more tired than I can remember being in a long, long time. I don't know how in the world these Presidential Candidates do this. I might die of exhaustion. Depending on the outcome of Super Tuesday I may go to Virginia to help get out the Obama vote before next Tuesday's Primary. Anybody reading this from Virginia??? I might need a place to stay!!!

Speaking of Obama, we held a Rally here in JC on Saturday and had a really awesome turnout for this region. There was more diversity than I could have dreamed of. There were African Americans, Asian Americans, Hispanic Americans, and a majority of Caucasian Americans everywhere. There were also several dogs with Obama gear on.

NOTE TO SELF: MUST ORDER OBAMA DOG WEAR FOR REAGAN!! HOW PERFECT IS THAT!! HAHA :-)

FRIENDS IN LOW PLACES...

First of all I would just like to say that I wish I loved my job as much as this guy...



Why oh why am I up at this hour?? Well, I fell asleep before 8pm last night due to exhaustion, and woke up about an hour ago and couldn't go back to sleep...

PRIME TIME TO BLOG I SAY!!

So, I spent today (technically yesterday) walking around Johnson City neighborhoods going door to door handing out Barack Obama Materials and asking people to vote with their hearts on Tuesday. It was FREEZING and I was with some woman named Linda who is from Charlotte and repeatedly told me about how, at one point in her life, she really wanted to crash her car into something... ANYTHING- for no apparent reason. Fun Times.

The people we met were really friendly and I honestly expected to receive a lot more negativity than I did. The Clinton campaign has apparently decided to completely abandon this region of the state as not one person I spoke to had received anything from them. In addition, the Democrat Resource Center here in Johnson City is occuped 100% of the time with ONLY Barack Obama volunteers, even though the offer was made to the Edwards campaign and the Clinton campaign as soon as the doors opened. Of course, Edwards has dropped out, so they had a legitimate reason to not take the Democratic Party in this area up on this offer. The Clinton campaign, however, dismissed this offer altogether. So it's just us Obama folk over there now. And there is A LOT of work to do!!! Trust me when I tell you this.

I spent all day Thursday canvassing ETSU, and the response there was AWESOME!! It was quite refreshing seeing so many eager 18-22 year olds who didn't just want to vote for Obama, but also wanted to volunteer at the local office to get out the vote on Tuesday. People often stopped us mid-spiel to tell us they were already voting for Obama and what could they do to help. That was great!! I expected today's events to be not so fabulous, but was a bit surprised by the response we got. I only had one man who said "I don't vote, but I don't trust that man cause his name is funny." And to you Sir, I say keep not voting...

But the clincher was at the end of my Obama shift today when I went to my parents store to drop off my W-2 to my Dad (yes, my Daddy still does my taxes and will until I get married!). So, I was still wearing my "Women for Obama" button and really caught A LOT of flack from it!! I was probably asked by at least 8 people why I was supporting someone who wouldn't pledge allegiance to the flag, was in a Muslim sleeper cell, was sworn in on the Quran, blah blah blah... all completely ridiculous. Also completely obvious that people get their information from an e-mail randomly sent to them rather than actually spend 5 more minutes looking it up for themselves to see if its true or not. GUESS WHAT? ... IT IS NOT!! This information was sent in a hoax e-mail dating back to 2005-ish and was fully investigated by CNN among other news sources prior to Obama even announcing his candidacy.

If common sense was a factor than I would encourage anyone with a brain to wonder how this wouldn't be ALL OVER the news if there was one ounce of truth to it, but apparently some people just opt to believe whatever they are told. Can you even imagine the field day that other campaigns could have or would be having with this information if there was any truth to it?? SERIOUSLY!! Wonder who's behind all this false information by the way??? Hmmmm... Nope, not Hillary, but good ole "Fair and Balanced" Fox News!! Obama himself actually fought back against these "allegations" himself during a Presidential Debate in January.



So, I corrected as many people as I could about this completely obnoxious and irrelevant nonsense, and laughed a lot of it off, but then I encountered one particular woman who works for my Mom who really ruffled my feathers. She said "I cannot believe you are wearing that button around here trying to get people to vote for that Muslim!" and I said "Tammy, you really don't have accurate information on this issue, and I would encourage you to go to a credible... ANY CREDIBLE news source and do your own research" to which she replied, "Well my Black friend told me he was a Muslim." I responded "And you are choosing to believe what somebody tells you instead of looking it up for yourself?" and she said "Well my friend is Muslim too and I don't know why he would lie".

I really was shocked because not ONE person I had spoken to while canvassing had even brought this up and now suddenly when I was done campaigning for the day and just innocently dropping my W-2 Form off for my Dad at his store with my button still on my sweater, I was barraged by questions on this subject ALONE, by at least 1 out of every 3 people I ran into. This information that was debunked and fully investigated well over a year ago, I might add. And I was pissed. Really pissed.

And when Tammy the Truthful Engine said that she didn't know why her Black Muslim friend would lie I shot back a very angry "Tammy, that is the stupidest, most uneducated thing I have ever heard!" She wisely did not respond. I make no apologies for saying that or even saying this...

I respect everyone's right to vote for whoever they want to. Obviously I want people to vote for Barack Obama, but many people who I respect greatly feel like Hillary Clinton is a better candidate for them for valid reasons. The same reasons that I feel Obama is a better candidate for me personally. That is a perfectly acceptable and educated reality and I would hope that in this country we can agree to disagree for legitimate reasons such as these.

But I am truly appalled and offended by people who read an e-mail or hear from someone that ANY of the information circulated in this FALSE and slandering e-mail is fact. I am also offended by people who say they won't vote for Obama because it's too close to Osama, or make reference to him having a "funny name" which makes him shady. To anyone reading this who even remotely believes ANY of this... for GOD SAKES just educate yourself a little. It doesn't take a whole lot of research to figure out that this information is completely false. And to call this honorable man Osama or Saddam Hussein Obama, etc. makes my skin crawl and makes my respect for you completely evaporate. If you choose to vote for Hillary I will not ask you why. But if you respond anyway that you just couldn't vote for that Osama guy than you have a significant amount of intelligence that might be lacking and maybe you should let your voter registration expire. If you decide not to vote for him because of policy, general likability, or any other legitimate reason, I salute you for educating yourself in this completely Unprecidented Democrtic Primary.

So when I say "Friends In Low Places"... yeah, apparently I've got them.

Come to think of it, maybe I should hook Tammy up with my neighbor's phone number. They appear to have a lot in common.

Also, maybe I should just start suggesting that the Kennedy's , Oprah, Bill Bradley, Susan Eisenhower (yes, as in IKE), Former House Majority Leader Tom Daschle, and John Kerry are in the same Muslim sleeper cell with Obama, cause THAT would definitely make sense!!

Anywho, I've got a busy day tomorrow with canvassing in the morning, the Rally in the afternoon, and then the date (UGH...) although I may have come up with a contingency plan to get me out of the date... at least for now (THANK YOU TENESIA!!). I'm thinking I may have to face the music on Super Bowl Sunday, but at least it will be at a Sports Bar!!! I'm off on Monday, so check back then for post-date details, and in the meantime...

I did watch the State of the Union tonight, and I was also trying to eat. One should never mix George W. Bush and food. Just an FYI.

I also watched the Kennedy Family Endorsement this afternoon and it was amazing in the most ridiculously fabulous of ways. I am SUPER STOKED about this momentum wave going on right now, and when Obama is named the Democratic Nominee you can say "I told you so!!"

They are speculating on when Al Gore will endorse Obama right now on MSNBC, and I will say that I signed a petition for this to happen already. I only hope it does before February 5th.

Also, I am stumping for Obama here in Northeast Tennessee (shocking, I know!) so don't be surprised if you get a call from me or a letter!! Just kidding maybe, because I am not sure who is on my phone list just yet :-)

There is a Rally taking place at Kiwanis Park at 2:00 p.m. this Saturday, February 2nd for Obama supporters. It is organized by Tri-Cities for Obama and not a sanctioned Obama Headquarters Event. I don't want anybody showing up thinking the man, the myth, the future legend will be there!!

In OH MY GOD I COULD JUST DIE news, I am sure you have all heard about this reunion...



YES!!! IT IS REALLY HAPPENING!!! I HAVE DREAMED OF THIS DAY!!!! I DON'T CARE IF SOME OF THEM ARE 45 YEARS OLD, I AM ALL OVER THIS!!!
